Alright, so i just got some peas and pumkins to plant in my garden. However, this garden hasnt been used in a while, lets say about 2 years. It had once very rich soil, but now, grass, and weeds have taken over! How can i get my garden ready again? The fields behind my house slope towards the house and when it rains the water drains off into my garden. When it pours down, like it did in January, a stream forms across my garden and flows into my neighbour’s garden. Can I ask the owner of the fields to take action to prevent this happening by improving the drainage, or it my responsibility to do something?

I want to start a little garden, but heres the problem. I live in an apt. with a small pattio (ground floor)So i cant actually use their soil, I see it in my mind but know nothing of gardening, all house plants i have ever had have died very quickly and it didnt help that my cats ate them too…any sugestions for a good outdoor garden I could do in pots and would be hard for me to kill?
